Brilliant sunlight flashes in a 60-foot radius centered on a point you choose within range. Each creature in that light must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 12d6 radiant damage and is blinded for 1 minute. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage and isn't blinded by this spell. Undead and oozes have disadvantage on this saving throw.
A creature blinded by this spell makes another Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On a successful save, it is no longer blinded.
This spell dispels any darkness in its area that was created by a spell.
The opinion on Sunburst is divided. Some players highly recommend this spell due to its high damage output and the fact that it deals radiant damage, which is a rare and powerful type of damage that few creatures are immune to. They argue that its range and area of effect make it a great option for taking out large groups of enemies or dealing heavy damage to a single target.
Others, however, criticize Sunburst for its high level requirement and steep material component cost, making it difficult to access for many players. They also point out that its damage can be mitigated or even negated entirely by creatures with resistance or immunity to radiant damage, such as undead or demons.
Overall, Sunburst can be a valuable tool in the right situation, but its high cost and specific damage type make it a situational choice rather than a must-have spell for every character. So, it ultimately depends on the player's playstyle and the type of campaign they are running.
Sunburst is D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) 5th edition content, but other TTRPGs may have their own version such as a Sunburst Pathfinder edition. Want to use Sunburst in a VTT (virtual tabletop)? Try out SendingStone for free today!
