A frigid beam of blue-white light streaks toward a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, it takes 1d8 cold damage, and its speed is reduced by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
The spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8).
Ray of Frost, a cantrip available to Sorcerers and Wizards, deals a small amount of cold damage (1d8) to a target up to 60 feet away. While it may not be the strongest spell in a caster's arsenal, it does offer some strategic benefits, such as slowing down an enemy's movement speed by 10 feet until their next turn. The ability to deal ranged damage without expending higher level spell slots can also be useful in certain situations. Overall, Ray of Frost may not be the flashiest or most powerful spell, but it can be a useful tool for casters to have in their repertoire.
Ray of Frost is D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) 5th edition content, but other TTRPGs may have their own version such as a Ray of Frost Pathfinder edition. Want to use Ray of Frost in a VTT (virtual tabletop)? Try out SendingStone for free today!
