You point your finger toward a creature within range and whisper a message. The target (and only the target) hears the message and can reply in a whisper that only you can hear.
You can cast this spell through solid objects if you are familiar with the target and know it is beyond the barrier. Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood blocks the spell. The spell doesn't have to follow a straight line and can travel freely around corners or through openings.
The spell Message, available to bards, sorcerers, and wizards, allows the caster to send a whispered message up to 120 feet away. The spell takes one action to cast and lasts for one round. To cast the spell, the caster must have a short piece of copper wire to use as a material component. The spell is useful for communicating covertly with companions or allies while avoiding detection by enemies. It is also helpful for scouting or gathering information without being noticed. Overall, Message is a versatile and practical spell for a variety of situations.
Message is D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) 5th edition content, but other TTRPGs may have their own version such as a Message Pathfinder edition. Want to use Message in a VTT (virtual tabletop)? Try out SendingStone for free today!
