You banish a creature that you can see within range into a labyrinthine demiplane. The target remains there for the duration or until it escapes the maze.
The target can use its action to attempt to escape. When it does so, it makes a DC 20 Intelligence check. If it succeeds, it escapes, and the spell ends (a minotaur or goristro demon automatically succeeds).
When the spell ends, the target reappears in the space it left or, if that space is occupied, in the nearest unoccupied space.
The spell Maze, available to Wizards at level 8, is a powerful tool for disabling a single target. It allows the caster to trap one creature within an extradimensional labyrinth, where they are unable to act for a duration of up to 10 minutes. This can be incredibly useful in combat situations, as the target effectively becomes a non-factor for the duration of the spell. However, it does require concentration, so the caster must be careful to avoid losing focus. Overall, Maze is a valuable addition to any Wizard's spellbook, and can be a game-changer in the right circumstances.
Maze is D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) 5th edition content, but other TTRPGs may have their own version such as a Maze Pathfinder edition. Want to use Maze in a VTT (virtual tabletop)? Try out SendingStone for free today!
