The SendingStone review

Many players consider the Hold Person spell to be a powerful and effective tool in combat, particularly when used against humanoids. The spell requires a Wisdom saving throw, and if failed, the target is paralyzed for the duration of the spell or until they are attacked. This can allow the party to focus their attacks on a single target, making combat quicker and easier. However, the spell's effectiveness can be limited against non-humanoid creatures, as well as against targets with high Wisdom scores. The concentration requirement also means that the caster cannot use other concentration spells while maintaining Hold Person. Overall, while not perfect in all situations, Hold Person is still a valuable spell to have in a caster's arsenal.
