You touch a creature and grant it a measure of protection from death. The first time the target would drop to 0 hit points as a result of taking damage, the target instead drops to 1 hit point, and the spell ends. If the spell is still in effect when the target is subjected to an effect that would kill it instantaneously without dealing damage, that effect is instead negated against the target, and the spells ends.
Death Ward is a powerful spell for Clerics and Paladins, providing protection against death magic for up to 8 hours. This spell can be cast with a single action and targets a single creature, making it useful for protecting key members of a party. The spell's range is touch, so the caster must be close to the target. Overall, Death Ward is a valuable spell for any Cleric or Paladin looking to protect their party against the deadly effects of magic.
Death Ward is D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) 5th edition content, but other TTRPGs may have their own version such as a Death Ward Pathfinder edition. Want to use Death Ward in a VTT (virtual tabletop)? Try out SendingStone for free today!
