You touch a willing creature. Until the spell ends, the target's skin has a rough, bark-like appearance, and the target's AC can't be less than 16, regardless of what kind of armor it is wearing.
In my opinion, Barkskin is a versatile and useful spell for Druids and Rangers to have in their arsenal. The spell allows the caster to toughen their skin and become more resistant to attacks for up to an hour, providing an extra layer of protection in combat. The concentration aspect of the spell can be a bit limiting, as it requires the caster to focus on maintaining the spell, but it ultimately pays off in terms of increased survivability. Additionally, the spell's material component - a handful of oak bark - is easy enough to acquire and doesn't add an extra burden to the caster. Overall, I would recommend Barkskin to any Druid or Ranger looking for an effective defensive spell.
Barkskin is D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) 5th edition content, but other TTRPGs may have their own version such as a Barkskin Pathfinder edition. Want to use Barkskin in a VTT (virtual tabletop)? Try out SendingStone for free today!
